Ben Mitchell - Executive stylist

With over 15 years of hairdressing experience, Ben has honed his craft alongside some of Australia’s most talented stylists and colorists. His career highlights include working backstage at Fashion Week, where the energy and creativity fuel his passion for hairdressing.

Ben’s specialties lie in fashion-forward cutting and bespoke color work. He’s dedicated to collaborating with you to bring your hair goals to life—ensuring you leave feeling confident and happy every time.

Michelle Fitzgerald - Executive stylist

Hi, my name is Michelle. Some of you may already know me from my previous time with The Base Hair Lab team a few years ago. I’m excited to be returning in a combined role as Salon Coordinator, supporting the team within the salon through education, leadership, and on-the-floor expertise as an Executive Hairstylist.

I bring with me over 35 years of experience within the hairdressing industry, along with a wealth of knowledge, skills, and passion for all aspects of salon life. I spent most of my career owning and operating my own salons, opening my very first business at just 21 years of age shortly after completing my apprenticeship and building it from the ground up.

Over the past five years, I have focused heavily on education and training, mentoring our next generation of apprentices entering this amazing industry that has given me so much throughout my career. Being able to give back through sharing my skills, experience, and knowledge has been incredibly rewarding, and I’ve loved helping young stylists grow in confidence and develop their craft.

Now, it feels like the right time to step back into the salon environment and combine my passion for hairdressing with my experience in business development, salon coordination, education, and team support.

Hairdressing has always been a true passion of mine, and I love continuing to evolve with the industry, keeping up with new techniques, products, and the ever-changing trends in cutting, colouring, blonding, and foiling.

I’m looking forward to meeting you and welcoming you into my chair, where I can use my creativity, experience, and passion to transform your look and help you feel your absolute best.

I’m excited to reconnect with familiar faces, welcome new clients, and continue being part of the incredible team at The Base Hair Lab.

Anaya Blanchard - Senior Creative Stylist

Hi, I’m Anaya, a qualified hairstylist with a passion for creating effortless, lived-in blondes that grow out beautifully.

I love enhancing natural tones while keeping hair healthy, soft, and low-maintenance.

Whether you’re after a subtle glow-up or a brighter blonde moment, my goal is for you to leave feeling confident, refreshed, and completely in love with your hair.

Amber Salusbury - Senior Creative Stylist

I’ve always loved that hairdressing allows me to combine creativity with making people feel confident in themselves. I specialise in all aspects of hair and love creating personalised looks that feel effortless, modern, and tailored to you.

Working at Australian Fashion Week has only grown my love for the creativity and artistry behind hairdressing. If you enjoy a good chat or prefer a quiet, relaxing appointment, my goal is always to create an experience that feels comfortable and enjoyable for you.

Amali - rising stylist

Hi! I’m Amali, and I’ve recently moved here from a country town in NSW. I’m an award-winning hairstylist, proudly recognised as NSW School-Based Apprentice of the Year.

My passion for hair stems from my belief that it’s so much more than just a haircut. When you sit in my chair, my goal is not only for you to leave feeling like a supermodel but also to have an experience where you feel genuinely cared for, heard and confident. I believe the hair starts with connection, trust and understanding of your personalised goals and needs.

I’m passionate about staying up-to-date with the latest trends and techniques so when you leave my chair, you not only feel fresh but also look Insta-worthy every time. I love capturing the perfect angle of your hair because we already know it’s going to eat! Whether it’s effortless lived-in colour, a big blonde up, a fresh cut or your regular maintenance appointment, I’m here to make sure you leave feeling confident and obsessed with your hair.

You will find me inside The Base Hair Lab Monday – Friday, 9am – 5 pm and Saturdays by appointment only.
